Dressing like a hippie has advantages and disadvantages. You"ll get plenty of attention from the immigration officials but you"ll fit right in at some of Goa"s infamous psy trance parties. Local women will look at you with pity but the local taxi mafia will assume you"re a cheap tourist determined to survive off only banana milkshakes and hitchhiking. From the airport there are a couple of useful buses. They don"t have air-conditioning but the wide open windows ensure a cooling breeze. First take a bus to Panjim, and from there you can change onto another bus for old Goa, or another destination in the north of Goa. Those heading to the Southern beaches aren"t as fortunate and are better taking a pre booked taxi.
