It is undoubtedly the most important visit in the city of Milan. Better known as Il Duomo, it is a huge Gothic cathedral which is located in the heart of the city. The temple has a length of 157 metres and space for more than 40,000 people inside, and it is one of the world"s largest Catholic cathedrals.
It is certainly the most famous opera theatre in the world, and its interior is worth a visit, for the beauty of the lobby and Auditorium. It is located at the Scala square, a place full of life where you can make a stop along the way. Do not miss the taste of a delicious artisan ice cream, an Italian pleasure that no one should avoid.
Maybe the most famous work of art in the world, this work made by Leonardo Da Vinci can be seen here in its original location, the wall of the dining room of the convent of the Dominicans of Santa Maria delle Grazie. There is nothing else to do but see it and run out of words!
Castello Sforzesco was built as a fortress in 1368 and was then transformed into a Palazzo Ducale, which was virtually destroyed during the Ambrosian Republic. The family rebuilt it and turned it into the great Museum that it is now. If you don"t see yourself very prepared for an evening of art visit, don’t fail to visit the central courtyard of the Castle and then you can have a nice walk through the Park beside the castle.
Next to the Duomo, it is one of the most beautiful squares of Milan. The buildings that surround it include two palaces and several buildings of Gothic style and great beauty.
Buying in one of the most beautiful commercial passages in the world is an attraction that no one can miss. Also, the Gallery has all type of establishments, so you can take coffee, another thing to do in Italy.
How can you make a tourist visit to a cemetery? In Milan you can, because more than a cemetery it is a Museum in the open air, because of the amount of tombs of great artistic value that it contains.
Eating in Milan is an experience as pleasant as it is anywhere in Italy, since the offer is great and everything is very tasty. From pizza to fresh pasta cooked in a thousand ways through rice and other lesser-known dishes of the cuisine of the country such as soups, all the food in Milan will be0 a great experience for you. But here we recommend this patisserie, rather than a pizzeria or any other restaurant, because it is more hidden and it is really worth a visit. The variety of cakes and tarts is enormous, and they are a heavenly pleasure! The place has only three tables, so maybe when you arrive you must wait for other customers to finish their snack to be able to sit.
As something "extra" (and probably only if you caught on the way) you can stop for a ride in the medieval village of Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII 20 Km from Orio al Serio. Birthplace of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli - who would become Papa Juan XXIII - after this event the people of Sotto il Monte was renamed Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII. Obviously you can visit the birthplace of Roncalli.
Maybe you"re not a great Navigator, or perhaps someone in your group is tide nothing but set foot on deck. In that case the lakes are not the best option, so you decide to organize a day on the mountain. 70 kilometers from the airport of Bergamo, the village of Schilpario is located in the highest part of the Scalve Valley. Your group can get there in a minibus rental with driver, who will wait while you enjoy the guided visit to the local mines. Taking into account that the average mines inside temperature is 8° C it will be a good way to keep you cool during the hot Milano summer and bus tour holidays!
You can rent a bus in Milan for tours around the city, or in the region of Lombardy. Although there are many tourist routes possible in a large city like Milan, the most essential place to visit is without doubt the magnificent Cathedral (Il Duomo) and its square, which is recommended to stop for a drink, along with the theatre la Scala, the Castle of Sforzesco and, of course, you cannot miss Da Vinci’s picture The Last Supper.
A visit to Milan is not complete without buying clothes and footwear, since it is one of the capitals of fashion in the world. At the Vittorio Emmanuelle Gallery you will find stores of all kinds as well as several restaurants, all in a beautiful building from the 19th century. Your shopping tour can continue along Via Monte Napoleone, a street full of flavour and beautiful shop windows.
If you or your group are planning a holiday in the Lombardy region, we suggest that you plan your itinerary in advance to avoid unexpected problems and take profit of your time as much as possible. In your tour with private transportation in a rental bus with driver around Lombardy you can choose an excursion to Lake Iseo or Lake Como, or a visit to major cities and centres such as Milan or Bergamo, or you can simply enjoy a day in the mountains.
About 80 kilometres north of the city of Milan, surrounded by the beautiful peaks of the Alps, there is a lake region whose beauty has made them famous in the whole world (not in vain famous people such as George Clooney, for example, are the owners of houses near Lake Como).
Lake Como is one of the deepest in Europe, and all the villages situated around it are very beautiful and picturesque. A very interesting option to visit the Lake is to surround it on the road, enjoying the incredible views and making stops where you want. The other way to get to know it is by boat , in order to get the best pictures. Como is one of the places that you cannot miss, and also from there you can rent boats for a short ride either, if you want to, or for a longer trip around the lake. The town is walled and you can stroll through its steep streets and contemplate some Renaissance buildings that are really worth the visit. The Duomo (Cathedral) is also a must.
Lovere is an old town located in the province of Bergamo, at about 40 kilometres from the airport of Orio al Serio, and right on the northwest shore of Lake Iseo, where you can organise a day trip. After a stroll through the medieval centre - including a visit to the Church of Santa Maria Assunta - you can head towards the building that houses the Tadine Academy of Fine Arts, in front of the lake. If you are an art lover you can enjoy the permanent collection in the interior of the Academy, otherwise we suggest that you embark on one of the cruises offered by the navigation company of Lake Iseo. With a fleet of 14 different types ofboats and ferries, the company organizes day trips to the 3 Islands in the lake, stopping at some locations near the coast. The ticket costs € 18,00 or € 22,00 if you include the optional meal. Take advantage of the occasion to test the fish from the Lake of Iseo!
As something "extra" (and probably only if it on the way) you can stop for a stroll in the medieval village of Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII at 20 Km from Orio al Serio. Birthplace of Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli - who would become Pope John XXIII - after this event the village of Sotto il Monte was renamed Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII. Obviously you can visit the birthplace of Roncalli.
Maybe you"re not a great navigator, or perhaps someone in your group gets dizzy only by setting foot on deck. In that case, the lakes are not the best option, so you can decide to organize a day on the mountain. At 70 kilometres from the airport of Bergamo, the village of Schilpario is located in the highest part of the Scalve Valley.
