During the last ten years the government of La Coruña has decided to offer a form of transportation that is more ecologically- and user-friendly, called Bicicoruña, with ten stations spread throughout the city. They also rent bikes to local residents. Tourists will need to go to shops like Eco-Lógica, Bicicletas Cachaza, or Trek Bicycle Store in order to rent a bike; these stores also offer guided bike tours through the city.

Mount Saint Peter (Monte de San Pedro)

Catch some great views from the lift or the mountaintop, and enjoy the open-air café or the playground. The vistas at the summit allow you to see the islands along the coast and give you an appreciation for the size of the Tower of Hercules (la Torre de Hércules) in Orzán Bay, which is the oldest still-functioning lighthouse in the world.

You can get the best views of La Coruña from Mount Saint Peter Park, situated on the highest spot in the city, which can be accessed via cable car, and La Coruña"s Seaside Walkway (el Paseo Marítimo), which goes all the way around Riazor Beach, or the Menhirs of the Tower of Hercules, a collection of 12 sculptures.

You can take a coach rented with chauffer downtown to La Plaza de María Pita, located just outside the Old City at the end of Marina Avenue, where there are terraces and bars where you can get food and drink. Nearby is La Coruña"s City Hall (el Ayuntamiento) and the monument in honor of María Pita, the heroine of the city.

This old tramway was built in the beginning of the twentieth century and was restored for the enjoyment of tourists visiting La Coruña.
